Mission Statement

Cultivating Christ Centered, Life Long Learners

by means of High Expectations and Exceptional Teaching

Sycamore Tree Academy (STA) is a new school scheduled to offer its first classes in the Fall of 2008 at Sycamore Tree Church.  The first year Sycamore Tree will offer K4 & K5 classes with plans to offer sequential grades each year.

The Learning Site

Sycamore Tree Academy is in the process of creating two learning spaces in the fellowship hall of the church as well as upgrading exits and lighting to make the site as safe and appropriate for learning as possible.  Parents and students will be able to tour the facility by May 2008.

The Curriculum

After careful review, the Academy board has selected Bob Jones University Curriculum as the primary instructional resource for STA teachers.  This will allow the school to stretch students to reach their full potential in Christ.  In addition to standard academic studies such as Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts, Sycamore Tree Academy plans to offer music, art, physical education and Bible classes for spiritual development.

Age Requirements

Sycamore Tree Academy’s K4 class will include students who reach age 4 before August 30, 2008.  The K5 class will be for students who are age 5 before August 30, 2008.

Registration

Registration is open to all children whose family is actively involved in any church in the area and agrees with the teaching philosophy and core values of STA..  Applications for enrollment will be accepted from March 1 through May 30 (final date subject to change and late applications will be accepted as space allows).  Visit the school’s website or phone the school after February 15 to obtain an application.  A $25 application fee should accompany each form.

Dress Code

The board for Sycamore Tree Academy’s “uniform” will consist of any “khaki” style tan or black pants and hunter green polos, crew neck sweaters or oxford style button down shirts.   The board plans to have shirts with the school logo available for optional purchase.

Tuition

Approximate tuition including consumable materials for the 2008 school year will be $   per student for K4 and $   for K5.  The Academy will offer 10 month payment plans with a $50 discount for those paying in full prior to the start of the school year.

Schedule

School days will begin at 8:45 a.m.  K5 students will have an all day program concluding at 2:45 p.m.  K4 students will be on 1/2 day schedule with the morning program ending at 11:30 p.m. and the afternoon program beginning at Noon.  Before or After care will be available during school hours for working parents for an additional fee.

Sycamore Tree Academy plans to run on a “year round” school schedule.  With shorter breaks more frequently, students are less likely to “get tired” of school and have more ability to retain what they’ve been taught allowing for less review of forgotten lessons.  STA will begin each year in mid-August, offer short breaks every 6-9 weeks with longer breaks in February and July.
